Shiny Silver Stars

My second obsession, after shiny things of course, is makeup. Since I was a teenager I’ve loved being able to transform my face into something completely different by essentially just doing a bit of colouring in. As a birthday present from my mum this year, I got these lovely sparkly balls of gorgeousness, the Guerlain Christmas Edition Meteorites. Guerlain bring out a limited edition Meteorites every year, but the 2015 are particularly lovely.

Just look at them!

Mixed in among the sparkly balls are chubby little stars, which are just so cute I had to make some silver stars inspired by them.

Started off with a block of wax, and cut it into a star shape.

Shaped the points, and started putting grooves in between them.

Then I changed my mind about the grooves and smoothed them out again!

Cast three different sizes in silver, then added jump rings to them before moulding. Look at all the fat little stars – so cute!

I turned them into pendants and earrings and, my favourite, stacking rings set with some gorgeous faceted moonstones to represent the colours of the Guerlain pearls and their shimmeriness (is that a real word?)

I'm so pleased with how these turned out - I made a set of the rings for myself and have worn them every day since!
