Ring Making Workshops

Carve, Create & Celebrate

Step away from the everyday and into the world of jewellery making. In a time where so much of our lives are spent online, this workshop is all about slowing down, getting together, and discovering the joy of creating something that’s truly yours. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion, treating yourself to a mindful afternoon, or simply love the idea of crafting a future heirloom with your very own hands, this is your moment to shine.

The Workshops

Over 2.5 relaxed and hands-on hours, you’ll learn the ancient art of wax carving, a technique that has been used for thousands of years to create precious metal jewellery. Using hard jeweller’s wax, you’ll sculpt, carve, and shape your design into life, creating a unique ring ready to be cast in recycled sterling silver.

Your ring design can be anything you like – organic or geometric, delicate or chunky. The beauty of wax carving is that there are no limits. Whether you’re making something for yourself or creating a special gift for your favourite person, your piece will be completely one of a kind.

We’ll start with a step-by-step demonstration of how to design and carve your ring, then throughout the workshop I’ll be on hand for one-to-one guidance and gentle encouragement. With over 20 years of experience in jewellery making and an Honours Degree in Jewellery and Silversmithing, you’ll be in safe and sparkly hands.

Knowledge Required

Don’t worry if you’ve never held a carving tool before, this workshop is perfect for beginners (although you do need to be 18 years or over). I’ll guide you through each stage: from sketching your design and measuring your ring size to using specialist tools to carve, form, texture and detail. You’ll be amazed at what you can create with a little wax, a few tools, and a spark of imagination.

What’s Included

Tools and materials are provided; all you need to bring are your ideas (and maybe a few reference photos if you like). At the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with your hand-carved wax ring, ready to take home as a keepsake or to have cast in sterling silver for an additional cost.

Pricing

Please read carefully before booking:

The workshop itself costs £45, which includes all materials, tools and tuition – everything you need to create your beautiful wax model.

The cost of the workshop ticket does not include casting your ring into sterling silver.

If you’re in love with the ring you’ve created in wax and decide you’d like your piece professionally cast into eco-friendly recycled silver, this costs an additional £60–£80, depending on the size and thickness of your design. Your ring will then be finished, sized, and polished in my workshop before being posted to you, and takes around 4 weeks. This add-on can be paid at the end of the class and is completely optional.

Why You’ll Love It

Jewellery holds our stories – memories, milestones and little reminders of who we are. Creating your own ring transforms that connection completely. It’s not just a piece you wear; it’s an experience you’ll remember every time you look at your hand.

Whether you’re crafting a gift for someone special or a well-deserved treasure for yourself, this workshop is about slowing down, getting creative, and leaving with something meaningful – designed by you, shaped by your own hands, and made to last a lifetime.

So come along, roll up your sleeves, and let’s make something beautiful together. Please check back here or email hello@laurengracejewellery.com for the next available dates.

This experience is ideal for anyone, whether you’re a total beginner, a crafty type looking to try something new, or simply searching for a mindful, creative way to spend an afternoon or evening.

FAQs

Do I need any experience?
Not at all! Most of our ring makers are complete beginners. You’ll be guided through every step of the process, and you’ll have plenty of time to practice, ask questions, and perfect your design.

What should I bring?
Just yourself and your ideas! I’ll provide all materials and tools. If you’re making a ring for someone else, knowing their ring size is helpful. If you have any inspiration images, feel free to bring those along too.

What should I wear?
Nothing fancy, just comfortable clothes you can move in. Wax carving does create some mess and dust, so maybe don’t wear your Sunday best!

Can I bring a friend or partner?
Absolutely – in fact, it’s even more fun together! You can both book onto a public event, or gather a group for a private workshop if you’d prefer something more personal.

Can we drink at the workshop?
You’re more than welcome to have a glass or two of something celebratory. Just remember, your carving skills are probably at their best before too many bubbles!

When will I get my finished silver ring?
If you choose to have your completed wax cast into recycled sterling silver, your finished ring will be polished and posted to you within around 4 weeks of your workshop.

Is there an age limit?
Workshops are for ages 18+, as we’ll be working with sharp tools and delicate materials.

Can you come to us?
Yes! I’m happy to travel for private workshops. Travel costs may apply outside London, but I’ll bring everything you need for a perfect creative setup.

How do I book?
Simply add an upcoming public event to your basket and check out, fill out the contact form below to arrange a private workshop or get in touch via hello@laurengracejewellery.com. Spaces are limited, so early booking is always recommended.

Private Workshops

Looking for something a little more exclusive? My private ring-making workshops are perfect for birthdays, hen parties, corporate and team-building events, or just an excuse to get your favourite people together for a creative afternoon or evening with a touch of sparkle.

I’ll bring everything you need to your chosen venue, whether that’s your office or your local pub - tools, waxes, and plenty of inspiration. All you need to provide are tables, chairs, and good company (and perhaps your favourite playlist).

I’ll guide everyone through the process - from sizing and sketching to carving and finishing your wax masterpiece. And yes, you can absolutely toast your creativity with a drink or two, although I do recommend saving the serious celebrations for after you’ve finished carving for safety!

Pricing

Private workshops are priced from £45 per person (not including silver casting and depending on your requirements) and run for 2.5 hours, plus approximately half an hour each side for set up and tidying. The minimum group size is ten, and participants must be over 18.

The cost of the basic workshop ticket does not include casting your ring into silver.

If you love the ring you’ve created and want to preserve it forever in precious metal, I’ll take the wax back to my studio for casting, finishing, and polishing, before posting your beautiful, finished ring back to you in around 4 weeks. This costs an additional £60–£80 per person, depending on the size and thickness of the finished design. This can be paid at the end of the class and is completely optional. I can also add the silver casting and finishing costs onto the per person cost at the beginning if you prefer to have it all inclusive – your private workshop is bespoke to you.

Private events can be invoiced individually or as one group, whatever suits best. Travel costs will apply for locations outside of London.
